January 2008 A New Year’s Eve party raises substantial funds for Education For All

Generous donations by participants at a New Year’s Eve party in Marrakech have raised substantial funds for our work. Pledged funds are still being received, but it is hoped that sufficient funds for the second girl’s boarding house will be raised.

March 2008 Charity Bike ride…come and join us in 2009

2008 bike trip

As you will see this trip was a great success and has now become an annual event. There is vehicle support throughout, so there is no pressure on how much cycling you need to do. In fact if you read Charlie’s blog above you will see that some people relaxed by the swimming pool whilst others cycled up to Oukaïmeden ski resort at 2600 metres!! Everyone had a great time.

April 2008 Bristol Grammar School visit Asni and continue to support our work

Bristol Grammar School arranged their second visit to Asni in April and were able to see the finished girls boarding house their group last year helped lay the foundations for. They continue to raise serious and much needed funds for the running of the boarding house—a special thank you to all!

The highlight of the year has to have been the opening of the girls boarding house at Asni. If anyone ever wondered what it is all about, you only needed to see the smiles on the girls’ faces and the smiles on their proud parents.

May 2008 participants at a birthday party at Kasbah Tamadot raise funds

Nigel Parker who celebrated his birthday in Morocco in May kindly asked for donations instead of presents in support of Education For All. What better birthday present than knowing his and your generosity has given the lifelong gift of education to girls from the rural High Atlas.

Why not make your own fund-raising page for that special event you are planning? All this is possible and easily done through the justgiving site simply go to: www.justgiving.com/efam/raisemoney and create your own fund-raising page.

June 2008 our sister organisation Education For All Morocco for raising funds in the UK receives charitable status from the Charity Commissioners.

Our sister organisation Education For All Morocco Ltd received charitable status from the UK Charity Commissioners (charity number 1124500). This means we will again be able to collect donations through the www.justgiving.com/morocco site and be able to gain the benefit of reclaiming gift aid for UK tax payers.

Corporate sponsorship

We have the start of several individual and corporate and school sponsors who have committed to donating 1000 euros per year to cover the costs of a girls education anyone who wants to join them please visit the companies page.

June 2008 a small scale fund-raising event and get together takes place in London

Thank you to everyone who supported this event and thank you Andy for organising, a pleasant time was had by all and over £1,000 was raised.

News from the girls

And the reason we are doing all this. 10 girls have spent their first year at the boarding house built and funded by your generous donations.

Marrakech November 2008

We are planning a get together (at an interesting venue) in Marrakech in November. So if you have supported us in the past or want to know more about our work or just want to come and have a nice evening out and support a worthy cause, come and join us. If you would like to receive details of this event, please e-mail us expressing your interest to

Please pass this newsletter onto friends and colleagues who might be interested, further information about our activities can be found by visiting this website. We also have two shorter web address www.efamaroc.org or www.efamorocco.org which might be easier to remember.

Our responsibility grows in September 2008. We will have an obligation to making sure that 18 girls, not only start, but finish their college education and that necessitates funds on a regular basis. Please do no hesitate to pass this on to friends and colleagues who may wish to participate in offering education to those less fortunate than ourselves.

We would like to thank you all for your support and interest in helping make this happen.
